Born in Astoria, Queens Frank Scala grew up knowing that through community,
neighborhood, and family gatherings-there were everyday occurrences that
brought people together to enjoy each others company and share home cooked food.
Coming from a big Italian-American family, Frank had the opportunity to share
those every day life experiences. This usually meant being around
the table and enjoying savory Italian-style dishes made by Frank's
mother, grandmother, or aunts.
In early adulthood Frank worked in various food related industries ranging from
delicatessens to catering different venues.
In 1984, after graduating Pace University with a Business degree, Frank worked
on Wall Street in the Foreign Exchange Market until retiring in 2000.
In 2000 Frank brought back those old memories of family, friends and community
to co-found what is called Frankie’s Gravy, Inc., today.
Frank’s original Marinara Gravy and all of Frankie’s Gravy sauces can be obtained
by logging on to the Frankiesgravy.com website. So enjoy Frankie’s
gravy and share the old stories with friends and family around the
table today. It will bring you back to the old neighborhood!
